Along our tomboy styling journey here on this site, we’ve always been careful to curate for our readers fashion we think exudes and brings out the spirit of the classic tomboy which we celebrate and want to preserve.

So it was quite the coffee-spiller (Persis drooled on her early morning bagel actually) when we found this menswear apparel brand that made tailored and tasteful clothes us gleeful tomboys could don as well.

The San Francisco menswear brand is called Mission Workshop and like the cool chic of the city, it was created out of the desire to build gear as tough as it is beautiful. It’s this pursuit that has kept these guys close to the grindstone for more than 20 years. Man, why do all the cool brands come from Trump-free West Coast US, huh?

Anyway, in 2009, down an alleyway in what was once referred to as “The Messenger Ghetto,” surrounded by taquerias and dive bars, The Mission Workshop rolled up their sleeves and got to work refurbishing an old warehouse to call home. After a few months of being covered in steel splinters, sheet rock dust, and moldy insulation, they cut the ribbon on their shiny new workspace, storefront, and headquarters. The guys are still in the same spot today and if you time to spill coffee or bagel drool, they wholeheartedly invite you to swing by their ‘office’.

The mission of this brand is to infuse great technical and sharp stylings into casual menswear and when we tomboys hear of something so rad, we of course, forget our girly manners and jump over the turnstiles. So here we bring you our favourite wanna-haves in The Mission Workshop’s current rotation of 2017 goodies.

Ultra-functional, Mission Workshop‘s the Eiger WX jacket has been made in collaboration with Halley Stevensons—a company manufacturing fabrics since 1864 when they made outerwear for North Sea fisherman dealing with harsh conditions off the coast of Scotland. Suffice it to say, the Eiger WX—made from durable waxed canvas—will also stand up to all kinds of inclement weather.

Available in tan, dark olive or black, the Eiger WX boasts a 280g/m2 outer-shell fabric and a three-point adjustable hood—so no matter the occasion or the conditions, wearers will stay dry and warm. Despite the jacket’s tech specs and functionality, style isn’t sacrificed. Somehow, it still maintains a sleek silhouette—so those sporting it don’t look like they’re about to go deep-sea fishing.

The Eiger WX is available online for $685 and comes with a lifetime guarantee that most tomboys like us like to hear since we don’t have a lot of time to go shopping all the time.

The Interval Jacket is constructed from a Japanese made, ultralight nylon that has been engineered to be highly wind and water repellent while offering tremendous stretch and breathability. Perfect for any classic tomboy looking for functionality in their wardrobe.

Designed for maximum versatility, this lightweight shell layers perfectly with any of our base layers for mild weather or with a merino mid-layer as the temperature drops. The Interval excels in nearly every condition on or off the bike. A stowaway/ 3-point adjustable hood, thumb loops, and an accessory stash pocket round out this versatile, go anywhere jacket. It has the endurance level of

Up your tomboy style with a substantial dose of California Cotton. The Perimeter CC from The Mission Workshop is softer, stronger, and longer lasting than any other cotton crew we’ve ever worn. The tomboy style journey continues with the Mission Workshop Arkiv® Field Packs, which allow for the secure and simple attachment of weatherproof accessories to the exterior of the backpack. Weatherproof, expandable, and unbreakable, The Helmsman is the latest incarnation of Mission Workshop’s Transit Series shoulder bags. It attaches itself easily to the front of any bike to become a foul-weather refuge for your valuables in all conditions.

The Helmsman has four quick-access cargo pockets and two zippered pockets on the outside of the bag. Inside the main compartment, there is a separate zippered padded laptop sleeve. It is constructed with HT500 outer fabric and a urethane coated nylon ripstop liner.

Multiple carry options include hide-away grab handles, a removable-quick adjust shoulder strap and for times when the load is heavy, an optional backpack harness that can be ordered separately. In addition, The Helmsman securely attaches to a front porteur style bicycle rack.
