@DANNIECHERIE OF @HELLATHRIFTY
Tomboy fashion is always consistent no matter the decade. It just goes with what’s happening with timeless fashion in both men and women’s lines. You can’t go wrong just putting classic pieces together and still making your outfit of the day work. This is exactly what the guys down at HellaThrifty believe in with their awesome Instagram account that emphasises 80s and 90s fashion. Here’s one of their models, Dannie Cherie giving off some major street attitude with her blue-dye overalls matched with a pink sleeveless printed tee. She finishes the look off with a pair of funky, neon blue hi-top sneakers in ‘true blue’ 80s Grandmaster Flash street rappin’ fashion. All we can say is DYNO-MITE! 🙂
What the hell do we have here?! This is certainly rocking tomboy style in a helluva different way, which is why we jumped on the print bandwagon of Stuzoclothing. This tomboy style boutique is based out of LA. These printed shirts simply scream ‘Rasta time in the Caribbean!’ Nice one!
Krrrrinnnng! School’s out y’all but the Asian schoolboy style of Gaesimsim is so in! Every one of her kūru looks is an eye-catching combo of demure Japanese school girl bobs and makeup before she flips the style board on its head with oversized oxford or baseball-themed shirts that are paired off with unisex berms. She usually finishes it all off with sneaks and socks we used to wear as kids. We love this anime style because not only did we wear this look in the late 2000s, it’s a creation that came out of our Asian backyard and anything from our neck of the woods is rad by us!
Nabile Quenum is a photographer who lives in Paris and takes photographs of uber-fashionable people off the streets of Europe. Here she captures three women in various tomboy chic styles that are Milan-esque in flavour. We dig the palazzo jeans and sneaks look which has a very early 90s feel. Remember when white tees and faded blue jeans were so Beverly Hills 90210 cool? Well, it looks like somebody didn’t get the ‘We’re in 2016’ memo and accidentally dropped a few vintage pieces from their Aaron Spelling closet.
Is anybody seeing red with this look? Well, you better because when tomboy, Natellushka decides to go red on red, people are definitely going to take notice. This traffic stopping number takes 90s grunge flannel shirt love and pairs it off nicely with leather accessories also reminiscent from that era. It’s a nice throwback to a time when ripped jeans and bed hair were best mates hanging out at a truck stop in Seattle, angsting away to a Nirvana or Pearl Jam track playing softly in the background.
We’re loving the Seoul-based photographer Alex Finch. His works can be seen in VOGUE and here he captures typical East Asian tomboy fashion which is a balanced combo of ripped skinnies with an oversized tee and bomber jacket. Couple this with a beanie, coloured punk hair and hi-tops, and you’ll get street tomboy style with a double dose of attitude and awesome!
